Highlights: Ireland U-20s Make Statement With Four-Try Display Against England

The Ireland Under-20s (sponsored by PwC) moved up two places to sit second in the U-20 Men’s Six Nations table, following a fantastic 31-21 bonus point win over England in Bath.

It was a night to remember for Andrew Browne’s Ireland side at the Recreation Ground, as they maintained their winning momentum from round 2 to quieten the vast majority of the 13,060-strong crowd.

Player-of-the-match Josh Neill got amongst the tries again, Lee Fitzpatrick, Daniel Ryan, and Noah Byrne also crossed the whitewash, Tom Wood landed all four conversions, and replacement Charlie O’Shea’s late penalty from halfway sealed a deserved victory.

Giving his reaction afterwards, flanker Neill said: “We knew England would come out hard, full credit to them. They really pushed us, it was a back-and-forth game. You know, it was tough out there but we really believed in ourselves and I’m so incredibly proud of the players around me.

“I’m getting a bit emotional now. It’s just incredibly special, the team that we have. It is not just good players, it’s good people, so I’m just incredibly grateful. Thank you to the fans for coming out, it’s the most incredible game I’ve ever been involved in.

“We stuck together as a team, and this one really meant more to us coming to Bath. Two years ago we watched the guys draw, and it’s just really special to come here and get a win. Just incredible, one of the best days of my life.”

The Ireland U-20s will conclude their U-20 Six Nations campaign with back-to-back home games at Virgin Media Park, taking on Wales on Saturday, March 7 (kick-off 7.45pm), and Scotland on Sunday, March 15 (kick-off 3.15pm). Tickets for both clashes are available to buy from Ticketmaster.ie.
