A number of Ireland’s current and fledgling internationals will be on view at this Saturday’s Middlesex Sevens event at Twickenham.
The annual tournament, won last year by the British Army, will see sixteen teams, mostly from the Guinness Premiership, go head-to-head in pre-season battle (live 1-4pm, Sky Sports 2).
Last year’s Premiership winners London Wasps will field former Munster pair Eoin Reddan and Jeremy Staunton, while London Irish have included recent signing Ben Willis, a former Leinster and Ireland ‘A’ scrum-half.
Ireland Sevens captain Ian Humphreys and ex-Leinster flanker Shane Jennings, who both played in Leicester’s training match against the Borders last weekend, are inclusions in the Tigers’ squad. Leicester and Ireland lock Leo Cullen is currently nursing a minor calf injury, picked up on the Japan tour, but is expected back soon.
Gavin Duffy, who bagged a brace of tries in Ireland’s 47-18 second Test defeat of Japan in June, and former Ireland Under-21 Simon Keogh have also been included in NEC Harlequins’ ten-man squad for Twickenham.
