Former Munster duo Eoin Reddan and Jeremy Staunton impressed when making their debuts for London Wasps at the Causeway Stadium on Sunday.

Guinness Premiership side Wasps opened their pre-season campaign with a 70-26 defeat of Division One outfit Exeter, with Staunton, a member of the Ireland squad that travelled to Japan in June, boasting a perfect ten-out-of-ten conversion rate for a 25-point haul by the final whistle.

The 25-year-old grabbed a well-taken try in the first half, set-up by a quick tap from Reddan, while Ireland flanker Johnny O’Connor also touched down in the 34th-minute.

Wasps coach Shaun Edwards said of Reddan and Staunton’s performances: “I thought Jeremy was flawless out there, and Eoin did good too. It’s not easy for scrum half to come to Wasps and fit into our game. Even experienced internationals like Rob Howley and Matt Dawson took time to learn how we play and adapt their game accordingly. Eoin will get used to it though, like the others did, and get better and better as the season goes on.”

Staunton told the club’s website: “It was nice to share my first run out with Eoin. His service today was second to none, and having played through the age groups together, it was nice for us both to get our first Wasp starts on the same day.”
