UL Bohemian opened up a five point gap at the top of the Energia Women’s All-Ireland League with a 24-10 win away to Railway Union. The two sides were unbeaten up to now in the 2019/20 campaign, but UL Bohs moved clear of their rivals with a dynamic performance at Park Avenue.

Ciara O’Halloran broke the deadlock after 30 minutes with Railway’s response coming from Larissa Muldoon just four minutes later. Bohs lead 12-5 at half time thanks a converted Chloe Pearse try and Eimear Considine’s effort pushed the advantage out to 17-5.

Railway responded through Amanda McQuade but there was still time for Sarah Quin to seal the win. The game was also notable for a first UL Bohs start for Ennis native Alana McInerney who lined out for Munster in the 2019 U18 Women’s Interprovincial Championships.

Suttonians are in the top half of the table after a convincing 39-17 win at home to Cooke. Molly Fitzpatrick followed up her Round 5 brace with a hat trick here while Greer Muir continued her recent form with another pair of tries.

It was a tight opening 40 minutes but Rob Forbes’ side opening up a commanding lead in the second half to overtake their Ulster opponents in the league table.

Elsewhere, there big wins for both Old Belvedere and Blackrock College.
