Buccaneers Secure Audi Sponsorship Deal

Buccaneers will have new title sponsors for the upcoming Ulster Bank League season, with Audi Athlone coming on board to support the local rugby club.

Buccaneers and Audi Athlone have much in common, both striving for performance and distinction, with style and power key elements to their combined ambitions.

Buccaneers, who play at Dubarry Park in Athlone, are the only midlands club participating in the Ulster Bank League League, competing in Division 1B.

Their young squad, with back rower Kolo Kiripati installed as captain, will be bidding to build on the progress made last season as they aim for promotion to the top flight this term.

Ian Moore of Audi Athlone commented: “We are delighted to team up with such a progressive club as Buccaneers whose ethos complements the Audi values of Vorsprung durch Technik.

“Audi Athlone look forward to working with the club and we hope that Buccs have a successful season in the Connacht and All-Ireland competitions.

Buccaneers President Ted Carty said: “Buccaneers are absolutely delighted to announce Audi Athlone as their title sponsors for the coming season.

“Audi is a superb and distinctive brand whose goals Buccs would be hoping to emulate. Buccaneers field 19 teams this season and clubs simply cannot operate without financial back-up.

“Thus the generous support of Audi Athlone is appreciated all the more in these challenging financial times.”

Also speaking at the launch in the Bounty, Athlone Mayor Alan Shaw wished Buccaneers well at all levels this season and he welcomed the support of a strong firm such as Audi Athlone, who have been giving wonderful employment in the town for 30 years to help drive the club on.

Buccaneers surrendered their Connacht Senior League title when losing to arch rivals Galwegians last weekend. They will be hoping to return to winning ways against Corinthians on Saturday, especially with their Ulster Bank League opener against Bruff looming.
