Leinster Seek Community Rugby Officer

Leinster Rugby are inviting applications for the role of Community Rugby Officer. This post is funded by Leinster Rugby, Ballymun Regeneration Limited, the IRFU and Unidare RFC and supported by Ballymun Trinity Comprehensive School.

The position of Community Rugby Officer is being created because of an emerging interest in this sport and also to maximise the use of first class recreational facilities, open spaces and parks in Ballymun.

The aim is to help create better pathways from school to club so that more young people access the game thus strengthening the base of the game. It is envisaged that the post holder will further develop their role as their own skills develop.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Community Rugby Officer

• To develop alternative rugby programmes and foster a self-sustaining rugby playing culture within the schools and community groups
• To develop positive working relationships with statutory agencies, stakeholders and the community and voluntary sectors in Ballymun
• Work in partnership with designated schools, to develop all aspects of the game, whilst promoting rugby in a positive, safe and healthy manner
• To promote and support the participation of young people and other stakeholders in positive rugby initiatives in Ballymun
• Adhere to Leinster Rugby/IRFU Child Protection Policy which requires adherence to Garda Vetting Process
• To promote, deliver and manage development programmes within Ballymun and to deliver agreed targets
• To help develop a closer relationship between the schools and Unidare Rugby Club in the Ballymun area and help raise the awareness of the children regarding their local club

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The successful applicant shall be required to have the following skills and qualifications:

• Have the Mini Rugby Coaching Qualification
• A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
• Be aware of the IRFU Long Term Development Pathway
• Ability to work on their own initiative
• Experience of working with young people within a community environment
• Experience of dealing with the public
• Experience of writing activity proposals and progress reports
• Experience in working with age grade player
• Ability to work well with people and have excellent communication skills
• Ability to facilitate and lead groups
• High level of organisational skills
• Ability to motivate volunteers
• Fundraising experience desirable
• Have access to own transport
