Matchday Event A Big Success
The Supporters Club Day Matchday Event for Ireland v Samoa proved to be a huge success and our biggest event yet. Over 600 members and their guests gathered in the Havelock Suite before and after the game to soak up the atmosphere and meet a couple of Ireland players.
This is the first time the event has been pre-sold as a package and it sold out in record time as members snapped up tickets.
The day itself started early with members arriving from 12.30 pm to enjoy the comforts of the Havelock Suite and their complimentary drink on arrival.
It was a chance to catch up with fellow members, meet new members and generally soak up the pre-match atmosphere.
The game itself proved to be a tough one and not one that set the fans alight, but it didn’t stop our members from making a lot of noise on the normally more sedate Corporate Level of the Aviva Stadium!
Post-match was a chance to review the game and then to meet a couple of the players. Our events are always popular with the players and we have been entertained by most of the squad at various events in recent seasons. This time it was the turn of Andrew Trimble and Denis Leamy.
Fresh from the ice baths, the lads discussed the game and looked forward to facing New Zealand a week later.
One young supporter was delighted to be presented with a signed Ireland jersey by Andrew. Ben Timmons, who was 12 on the day, said: “It was the best birthday ever!”
Finally our MC, recalling Andrew’s singing efforts at a previous event, coaxed Denis into giving us a song. Typically the Munster man gave us ‘The Fields’ and we all joined in to round off a great day.
A big thank you to all the members who attended and to our wonderful staff from the Hospitality Partnership who made it all run smoothly.
