Speaking this week from the training base in Limerick, Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll said there was a very positive feeling in the camp particularly as three of the provinces – Leinster, Munster and Connacht – have reached European quarter-finals.

“This is my tenth Six Nations. I’ve felt both sides of coming into camp, not being in the (Heineken Cup) knock-out stages, losing out on the last day and on other occasions being in the quarter-finals.

“Certainly there’s a bit of pep in your step coming into camp. You’re feeling good, you’ve European rugby to play after the Six Nations.

“It definitely does help the mood – the more Irish teams there are in the knock-out stages in Europe the better it is for us. That’s a great positive.”
