Club Together To Support Our AIB League Stars

Geoff Moylan’s Ireland Club International side will aim to make it two wins out of two when they meet their Scottish counterparts this Friday in Edinburgh. See below for ticket details and directions to Boroughmuir RFC’s stadium.

Having seen off England Counties 20-17 at Donnybrook last month, Ireland will travel with considerable confidence to Scotland this week.

The Celtic nations clashed in the inaugural AIB Club International at Donnybrook last year, with Ireland running out comfortable 30-13 winners after a slow start.

Players from ten of Scotland’s Premiership clubs have been named in the Scottish squad for Friday’s renewal of rivalries, which will take place at the fantastically named ‘Meggetland’, the home of Boroughmuir RFC in Edinburgh.

The Irish management have yet to confirm their line-up for the trip to the Scottish capital.

This match is the first of a number of big games for Ireland’s representative sides this weekend and IrishRugby.ie is encouraging all Irish supporters, especially expats, to kickstart the weekend in style by roaring on either the Club International team or the unbeaten Under-20s on Friday night.

The Club International will kick-off at Meggetland at 7pm on Friday night. Tickets are priced at Stg£10 (adults) and Stg£5 (children, students and OAPs). There is free parking at the ground.

Boroughmuir’s ground, which has a 3,500-capacity, is just over five miles away from Edinburgh airport, with its closest railway station being Slateford which is less than half a mile from Meggetland.

Looking ahead to the game, Scottland Club International coach Ian Rankin is expecting a tough test from the Irish. He said: “Having seen the Ireland Club International side in their victory over England, I was very impressed with their organisation. They played against an England side that was significantly bigger but they out-thought them and, ultimately, out-played them.”

IrishRugby.ie will have interviews with the players and coaches in the lead-up and aftermath of Friday’s match.
