Roar On The Under-20s In Falkirk

Eric Elwood’s Ireland Under-20s are closing in on a Grand Slam with the fourth leg of the championship seeing them come up against Scotland this Friday. See below for ticket details.

The Irish stars of the future, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, had a February to remember as they posted wins over Wales (17-15) away, and France (19-16) and England (13-6) at Dubarry Park in Athlone.

Hopefully they can take some of the fantastic support they received in the midlands – a 4,000-strong crowd turned up for the English game – on the road this month as they finish out the championship in Scotland and Italy.

For the third year in a row, Falkirk Stadium is playing host to the Scotland Under-20s’ home Six Nations games.

Friday’s clash has a 7.30pm kick-off. Tickets are priced at Stg£10 for adults and Stg£5 for concessions (Under-18s, students and OAPs).

Despite tries from Fergus McFadden and Fionn Carr, Ireland lost last year’s showdown with the Scots in the U-21 championship – 24-21 at Dubarry Park.

Ireland’s  hosts lost 27-10 to Italy last time out in Falkirk. The Scottish U-20s were also beaten 56-8 by Wales and 31-5 by England last month.

The Irish team and replacements are still to be confirmed for the tie, but big UCD number 8 Sean O’Brien looks set to miss Friday’s encounter and possibly the remainder of the championship.

The Tullow youngster injured his hamstring in the 13-6 win over England.

“I’m gutted but there isn’t really anything I can do. I’m back to where I started and I seriously doubt if I’ll get to play in the other Six Nations games,” he said.

With a good number of Irish fans arriving on Scottish soil on Thursday and Friday, IrishRugby.ie is encouraging as many of them as possible to make the trip to Falkirk to cheer on the U-20s.

The ground is located just off the A9, at its junction with the A904. Travelling westbound from Edinburgh, you exit the M9 motorway at Junction 5 and follow the A9.

It is approximately two miles from the Falkirk High and Falkirk Grahamston Railway stations to Falkirk Stadium.
