‘We’re Like A Kettle Boiling’ – Players Battling For Women’s Six Nations Selection

‘We’re Like A Kettle Boiling’ – Players Battling For Women’s Six Nations Selection

Lindsay Peat says there’s a keen sense among players that there are “jerseys up for grabs” for Ireland vs Italy in the Women’s Six Nations Championship on October 24th.

Head Coach Adam Griggs is one week away from naming his side for the Round 4 game. The squad will reconvene at the Sport Ireland Campus this weekend to vie for selection.

Peat says in the below video that last weekend’s camp showed where the squad are at in terms of preparation.

“Everyone was sharp, they knew where they were going lots of communication, lots of talk so buzzing and ready to let loose,” she said.

“The pinnacle is being selected and having the privilege of lining out for that jersey but no one gets to see the work behind that. You’ve responsibility as an athlete Monday to Friday.

“You might have individual work-ons. Mine this week might be getting my lifting or my tackle tech right. Everyone will have their work-ons so you’re really building to make sure you’re a step ahead for the next camp and making sure you’re that step ahead for the person next to you competing for that jersey.

“You always have to be working hard.”
