‘We’ll Go Hard’ – Preparations On Track For Women’s Six Nations

Ireland are just 10 days away from the resumption of their 2020 Women’s Six Nations campaign. It’s a busy time for the squad and IrishRugby.ie checked in with Strength and Conditioning coach Orlaith Curran to see what the workload has been like in recent weeks ahead of the Round 4 clash with Italy on Saturday 24th October at Energia Park (Kick-off 6.30pm).

Curran explains that they have moved through the return to rugby phase and into the peak of their physical preparations.

“When teams came back after lock down they would have spent a lot of time running, doing conditioning, making sure everyone was keeping on top of keeping fit and we were no different,” she says.

“We brought in a lot of running blocks into the sessions to try and really blast some fitness elements, bring up our high speed meters on the GPS.”

Curran says the intensity of training of training at the moment will serve them will come kick-off on Saturday week.

“The effort is there and we’re just trying to exceed match demands that little bit so we can really be ready to shine through in the Six Nations.”
