Larke And Lynch Setting The Scoring Standard In #EnergiaAIL Men’s Division 1B

With 24 points registered across the first two rounds, including a try against Naas, Old Wesley’s Tom Larke has stood out as the leading points scorer in Energia All-Ireland League Men’s Division 1B.
Along with his four conversions at Forenaughts last weekend, full-back Larke slipped through for a 33rd-minute try, collecting Niall Carroll’s classy offload after a penetrating carry from prop Ben Popplewell.
The 21-year-old former Ireland underage international reached double figures too during Wesley’s league opener against City of Armagh, slotting over 11 points. Sitting second in the table, Morgan Lennon’s men host UCC on Saturday.
Likewise, Dublin University out-half Matty Lynch has started the new campaign strongly. He has tallied up 20 points over the first fortnight, made up of seven successful place-kicks, and a smartly-taken 72nd-minute try at Armagh last week.
Current leaders Instonians, already making a big impression just over six months after clinching the Division 2A title, have the top try scorer in Bradley McNamara (pictured below). He bagged a brace of tries away to UCC to take his tally to three in two games.
Always an attacking threat from full-back, McNamara delighted the travelling support with scores in the 60th and 75th minutes. He was set free from halfway on the hour mark and produced a brilliant finish in the left corner, backing himself to make it past the covering Jed O’Dwyer.
There is an eight-man group behind him on two tries each. They include provincial Academy hookers Max Clein and Henry Walker, with the latter driving over twice against Garryowen, including directly from a 26th-minute maul.
Old Wesley captain Kieran O’Shea put together a try double away to Naas, Ulster hooker James McCormick has scored twice from lineout drives, while UCC’s Chris Barrett and Stephen O’Shaughnessy, and Highfield duo Mark Dorgan and Nicky Greene, are also on two tries so far.
