The Ireland Men’s Sevens team, sponsored by TritonLake, face a tough draw at the HSBC London Sevens this weekend as they aim to build on the success of their silver medal in Toulouse.

Ireland face two teams vying for top spot in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series standings as Twickenham will welcome all 16 core teams for this season’s penultimate leg, with all to play for in the race for the 2022 Series title.

James Topping’s side are in Pool B alongside series leaders Argentina, second-placed South Africa and Kenya.

Competition will be intense as Argentina enter the tournament in pole position at the top of the table for the first time ever. Los Pumas have 118 points after seven rounds, with South Africa on 116 and Australia on 110.

Ireland captain Billy Dardis and his team-mates are currently fourth on 88 points, just ahead of Olympic champions and defending London Sevens champions Fiji.

Topping’s charges beat South Africa in the opening game in Toulouse last weekend to set up a historic run to the final where they were beaten 29-17 by Fiji.
