Video Replays: Ireland Women’s RWC Sevens Matches In San Francisco

The Ireland Women’s Sevens team completed their season with a terrific sixth place finish at the Rugby World Cup Sevens, an improvement of three places on their tournament seeding. Relive all the action with our match videos from the weekend in San Francisco.

Giving her take on Ireland’s World Cup Sevens campaign, ever-influential captain Lucy Mulhall said: “It’s bittersweet but overall I think we had a really good weekend. I’m happy with how we performed, the last game (against Spain) probably left us wanting more and we definitely could have come away with a win. But at the same time, we put some good performances together and worked really hard for each other.

“The World Cup experience was incredible. It’s definitely given us so much motivation to burst on and become a top four team. It was a really well run tournament, it was so nice having the boys out here as well, and we just hope that we did Irish Sevens proud.

“The support was class, it was definitely like home advantage. Irish people more than any just travel so well to support everyone. Every time you went out on the field you could hear so many roars for us. Standing in the tunnel next to the other team, I don’t know how that felt for them, but it was unreal and such a good experience for us.”

You can watch all four of the Ireland Women’s games below, including their superb victories over the higher-ranked England and Russia teams, as well as the Cup quarter-final defeat to eventual champions New Zealand and the late play-off loss to Spain.
