RaboDirect PRO12: Round 22 Preview

Round 22 of the RaboDirect PRO12 promises to be a fitting finale to the regular season, with play-off spots and European qualification still to be settled. As with previous seasons, all six games will kick off simultaneously to add to the excitement and give no advantage to any team.

At the top of the table three teams are still in contention for the two home play-off places, only fourth-placed Ulster know that they will be away in the knockout stages.

The Ulstermen are away to one of those potential opponents when they face provincial rivals Munster at Thomond Park on Saturday.

The two teams currently in the home play-off spots, Leinster and Glasgow Warriors, also have home fixtures this weekend, against Zebre and Edinburgh respectively.

Leinster and Glasgow are on a run of good results, so will be hoping to carry that form with them into the last-four.

At the other end of the table Zebre and Benetton Treviso are locked together on 29 points and will be searching for the result that will secure one of them the Italian spot in next season’s European Champions Rugby Cup, making the games at Scotstoun Stadium and Rodney Parade vital to the Italian teams’ prospects.

Note: If two or more teams finish with the same number of league points, their placings will be determined by the following criteria in descending order: number of matches won; the difference between points for and points against; the number of tries scored; the most points scored; the difference between tries for and tries against; the fewest number of red cards received; the fewest number of yellow cards received.
