Ulster Bank League: Division 2B Previews
There is a three way tie at the top of Division 2B with Naas, Armagh and Rainey level on seventeen points. The chasing pack contains Boyne, Nenagh Ormond and Navan. Match of The Day could be Boyne v Naas.
ULSTER BANK LEAGUE: DIVISION 2B: Saturday, November 17
Kick-off 2.30pm unless stated –
Boyne (4th) v Naas (1st), Shamrock Lodge
Candidate for Match of the Day in Division 2B is this clash between two fantastic provincial town clubs.
Home side Boyne’s only defeat was to near neighbours Navan so they will not want to go down to Leinster rivals Naas at home on Saturday.
Nass, though, are flying high at the top of the Division with four wins out of four, albeit with only one try bonus picked up to date.
Connemara (16th) v Rainey Old Boys (3rd), Monastery Field
Connemara are still in search of their first win in Division 2B and it looks to be a long season ahead for them.
Visitors Rainey will bring their usual power to the game and with four wins to date they could make it a long day for their hosts.
Another win on the cards then for Rainey but can they secure a second bonus point?
Instonians (10th) v Nenagh Ormond (5th), Shaws Bridge
Inst. are mid table with two wins to their name so far but they are in the negative in terms of points difference.
Nenagh Ormond make the trip North with three wins under their belt and a couple of try bonuses to boot. They look to be well equipped for the season ahead.
Inst. will need to tighten up defensively but their opponents look to be better set to take the winning points on Saturday.
Navan (6th) v Thomond (14th), Balreask Old
Navan seem to be back to winning ways again this season. Their lone loss to date was against Naas but they have secured two try bonus points already.
Thomond drew their last game against Skerries to add to their two losing bonus points but they are rooted in the bottom half of the table.
Navan seem to have rebuilt their side in recent seasons and are firing well so far – a home win!
NUIM Barnhall (7th) v Clonakilty (12th), Parsonstown
Not the start NUIM Barnhall would have liked with two wins from four, although their two losses have come against the 1st and 3rd sides in the Division.
They still harbour ambitions and will improve as the season continues. Saturday is an opportunity to get another W in the column.
Clon. make the trip to Leixlip with a draw and three losing bonus points to their name.
Skerries (9th) v Armagh (2nd), Holmpatrick
First season in the Ulster Bank League after promotion for Skerries should be all about consolidation and finding their feet.
Mid-table with one win, one draw and two losses (bonus point secured) they are going okay so far.
On Saturday they face an Armagh side high on confidence with three wins and three try bonus points in the bag.
Sligo (15th) v Ards (13th), Hamilton Park
It will be home from home for Ards as they travel from Hamilton Park to Hamilton Park on Saturday.
Home side Sligo have one win to their name but have not managed to squeeze a losing bonus point out of their four losses, which could be important come the end of the season.
Ards are a point ahead, thanks to a try bonus and with a game in hand they could put some distance between themselves and Sligo with an away win.
Suttonians (8th) v Sunday’s Well (11th), JJ McDowell Memorial Grounds
A mid table clash in Sutton this weekend. Suttonians have two wins under their belts and performed well against Boyne last time out in taking a losing bonus point.
The Well recovered from their beating by Rainey to edge past Clonakilty last time out.
Home advantage and form should see the Dublin club take the points.
