Tir Chonaill RFC Celebrate First Season With Beach Tag Festival

The recently formed Tir Chonaill Rugby Football Club are to celebrate their successful first season with an end of term Tag rugby festival on the beautiful blue flag Carrickfin beach, adjacent to Donegal Airport, on the upcoming June Bank Holiday weekend.

The event is being run on Saturday, June 5 in conjunction with the Annagry Festival on the same weekend.

Beach Tag will commence at 12.30pm with a youths competition from ages 12 to 16 which will be played to a final. The seniors from 17 to 70 will then take to the sands to show their moves at approx 2.30pm.

All teams are welcome from far and wide, and we particularly would like to see our neighbouring clubs in Donegal enter teams.

These established clubs have extended great hospitality and welcome to us in our infancy, and we also are pleased to see another newly formed county club in Finn Valley.

Please note that the usual Tag team mix of male and female will apply (given enough gals!). Girls, there are extra points for you scoring a try, so come on down and give it a lash!

Trophies for the event have been kindly sponsored by Donegal Airport, and the prizegiving will be in Caisleain Oir Hotel in Annagry immediately following the seniors final.

Light refreshments will be available to purchase near the beach, and more substantial fare (and maybe a much needed beer!)  can be found in the Airport cafe, or in nearby Annagry where the festival will be in full swing.

The committee, coaches, parents and our young helpers guarantee a warm west Donegal welcome to all who attend, and a great night to follow in the surrounding pubs and hotels.

Camping will also be catered for away from the beach. We also guarantee one of the most beautiful locations in the county, and possibly in the country! Make the most of your Bank Holiday. Make it Carrickfin, make it rugby, make it food, drink and craic…most of all, make it FUN!!!
