Bud Light Tag In Third Week At Malone

Bud Light Tag In Third Week At Malone

Malone RFC’s venue manager Claire McAteer has loads to tell about their third week of Bud Light Tag with a little preview of next week’s games to watch to boot.

Week 3 of Budweiser Light Tag Rugby kicked off on Wednesday night under grey skies. However there was a meal deal available — Burger and bottle of Bud for just £3.00 this helped to brighten the night up.
Hands Like Feet and Rucking Brilliant continued their winning ways with Carson McDowell and Mighty Ducks being the ‘victims’ this week. Mighty Ducks defensive play was great they only let in 11 points. In the previous two weeks Rucking Brilliant managed to score 64. After shaky starts from both Deep Heat and Pass it to Cuddy they have now returned to their winning ways against City Slickers and NFU.
Game of the night in B2 was Scott Wilson Wolves vs. The Carnivores a hard fought game to the end with The Carnivores winning by just 1 point. Elsewhere in the league there were wins for Taggin Tigers, Titans and The Tropics.
Games were close in the C league with few tries being scored in the games Arthur Cox vs. Bangor Blues and Goldblatt McGuigan vs. NIW. The winners only scored 9 tries in each game. Despite a defeat at the hands of Quinn’s Ladies The Crew left the pitch is great spirits having been beaten by the better team. It’s great to hear a team that is defeated in a game compliment their opposition. Pairty still have to get their season off to winning ways and unfortunately week 3 wasn’t the week Energia Power Chiefs came out on top in their match.
Youth overcame experience when Stranmillis Stingrays recorded their first win of the season against Tagger Prawns. Wolf pack and PwC continue their winning ways this week at the expense of UR Rugby and Dynamic Hips. The Dynamic Hips may feel a little hard done by only losing by 1 point. The final game in this league, Try Try Again vs. Locksley Legends went to the wire with Locksley taking the points with a single point victory.
Thursday’s weather was dry and sunny and this continued into the evening with a slight breeze, ideal tag rugby conditions.
Transformers are the only team in Soc A to make it 3 wins out of 3; this week victory came at the expense of the Pumas. Yet to win a game this season DJC were defeated in the last play of the game by the Moose knuckles. With many players returning from injury Mengal Tigers returned to winning ways at the expense of Knipeys Knashers while Rollo Pollo Rustlers narrowly defeated The Flying Squad again this result shows how important the female tries are.
Energia Killerwatts and Tubbies Revenge both had tight games but remain unbeaten this season. This will change next week when they meet each other. Racing Club De Belfast ran out victors at the hands of KPMG while City Slickers bounced back from last week’s defeat to beat Corinthians.
B2 league is looking tight with 3 teams all winning 2 games out of 3 so far. Tag-A-Roos are still top of the league as they are yet to be defeated this season .
Things are definitely hotting up in the Soc C/beginner league. Too Big To Fail remain undefeated but hot on their tails are Old Kirkonians, Phoenix Knights and Bright Sparks all have lost just one game.

With three weeks played there is no team running away with the leagues and I imagine places for the cup and plate competition will be decided right up until week 7.

Next week’s top of table clashes include Wednesday B1’s The experienced Hands Like Feet take on the new Rucking Brilliant while in B2 The Tropics vs. Taggin Tigers. Thursday sees Energia Killerwatts up against Tubbies Revenge in B1.
