But man-of-the-match Alan Kingsley got in for a try for the home side which he also converted and winger Derek Corcoran had another try to have the home side 12-9 in front at half-time.

Galwegians centre Dave Clarke kicked two more penalties for ‘Wegians after the break, but Kingsley’s assured kicking – he tagged on a drop goal and penalty – helped Munsters hold firm for an 18-9 victory.

It was the Limerick side’s tenth straight league win and keeps them in with a chance of stealing the prized semi-final spot away from Old Belvedere.

Whichever side tops AIB League Division 1B will qualify for the upcoming semi-finals, along with the top three teams in Division 1A.

Currently, ‘Belvo hold a three-point lead over second-placed Munsters. The Dublin 4 outfit face a trip to UCC in their final game, while Young Munster are away to relegation-threatened Buccaneers.
