Bruff Get Behind Coiscéim Eile Appeal

Bruff Get Behind Coiscéim Eile Appeal

Would you like to see comedian Jon Kenny and friends in full flight at Bruff RFC and at the same time support a very worthy cause, ‘Coiscéim Eile’?

Joan Ryan was partially blinded in a car crash and her daughter Adele was paralysed from the chest down. That was a few years ago and Adele is now 12-years-old.

They have moved on, and they live with their injuries. They are good people, from a good, solid, rural community that does not lie down under adversity, but looks to the future.

The sort of strong community and family, in other words, that sets up a charity like ‘Coiscéim Eile’ to help people recover from their traumatic injuries.

Coiscéim Eile is a charity founded by John Ryan and his family. John is a brother-in-law of Mike and Lillian Cahill of Bruff RFC.

The Lokomat Machine is an amazing device that helps people with partial paralysis and many other debilitating disorders, and while it will not give Adele back the power to walk, it provides her with the exercise she needs.

It can be used by anyone with partial paralysis, or a multitude of other dehabilitating diseases and is available 8am to 8pm six days a week in the Patrickswell location.

It reduces the requirement of physios to deal with someone in this condition from four or five to just a single physio.

This machine, one of only two in Ireland, has helped many local people to walk properly again after serious accidents and also helps to keep people’s organs working even if they cannot learn to walk again. It’s available six days a week in Patrickswell and it does the work of five physiotherapists.

It costs a fortune, however, and the charity needs to collect €;150,000 before November to keep it in place in Patrickswell.

Bruff Rugby Club is on the case, and has organised a range of fundraising events, including a special Charity Night on Friday, August 7.

The night’s entertainment will kick off with Cáirde Ceol, leading into a show by comedian Jon Kenny and finishing off with music by some friends of ours and his.

Bruff are also hoping to do a celebrity auction of some great sports memorabilia on the same evening with Jon as the MC.

You can support this very worthy cause by:
