Dowling And Jackman Ruled Out Of ‘A’ Team

Winger Ian Dowling and hooker Bernard Jackman have both been ruled out of the Ireland ‘A’ squad due to injury.

Both Ian Dowling and Bernard Jackman were named last week in a matchday 22 that will take on the England Saxons in Donnybrook this coming Friday (kick-off 7.30pm).

However, Dowling has suffered a hamstring tear in the lead-up to the game and Jackman has aggravated an ankle injury.

Ulster winger Mark McCrea has been called into the squad to replace Dowling and Jackman’s Leinster colleague John Fogarty will take up the vacant hooker’s berth.

Munster centre Barry Murphy has also been added to the panel as the AN Other that was left open in the squad.

The full starting team and replacements for the ‘A’ game will be confirmed tomorrow (Tuesday) when Ireland coach Declan Kidney will also announce the Ireland senior team to play France.

The senior players trained in a bitterly cold Limerick today with no major injuries to report from the session.
