Newcastle’s Andy Mower, the former Boarders player has been drafted into Scotland’s squad in place of Budge Pountney who dramatically quit the squad a week ago.

Newcastle’s Andy Mower, the former Borders player has been drafted into Scotland’s squad in place of Budge Pountney who dramatically quit the squad a week ago. Mower wins his place at the expense perhaps of Glasgow’s Donnie MacFadyen who has been dogged by injury.

Coach Ian McGeechan (pictured) gives the uncapped Borders’ centre, 26-year-old Kevin Utterson a place in the squad, and there is also a call-up for the Leeds Tykes’ prop Gavin Kerr.
