Volunteers are the rugby-makers in the IRFU system. If you would like to be part of a welcoming community focused environment in your area, your local rugby club is waiting for you to get involved.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: Galwegians are recruiting for a team manager for their Energia Women’s All-Ireland League team. Main responsibilities include: Organising fixtures, organising transport, liaising with coaches and players, monitoring player injuries and numbers, liaising with various women’s team sub committees.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: The communications team need an assistant to help them generate and produce content to update our members on our various online communications platforms.    An ideal position and an exciting opportunity especially for a young person with an interest in digital marketing and who has ideas on integrating various traditional and digital media platforms. It also provides an opportunity to develop writing skills such as match reports and generating weekly newsletter content.    This role would require ca. 2 hours per week but can be tailored to suit the individual. The volunteer can also get valuable mentoring, support and guidance from the communications team to help them in the role.

We share our grounds with Pembroke Cricket Club (7 months rugby, 5 months cricket), so this role is for the rugby season only. Having spent over €750K on our grounds and clubhouse in the last 3 years, we believe that we have a location that is very ‘marketable’ and we need to promote ourselves more.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: A person who works with all the coaches from under 7- Seniors. This person would decide on how all our teams play. They would work with the coaches to deliver a style of rugby that all boys and girls can play as the go up through the different age groups in rugby.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: St. Mary’s College RFC has grounds on Templeville Road, Dublin 6W. With a large club house and 3 pitches with surrounding areas there is a constant need for maintenance and improvement. Working with the full-time groundsman, volunteers would assist with general grounds maintenance as well as repair work as needs arise. This role would suit someone who likes to work as part of a team outdoors to help create a nice space.  No particular skills are required.  Of course, skilled trades are very welcome.    St. Mary’s College RFC is an equal opportunities club

ROLE DESCRIPTION: St Mary’s College RFC holds a disco for local 1st year school children (c. 13 years) one Friday evening each month.  This is a valuable fundraising activity for our club and provides a safe and secure social outlet for the children of our local community.  In order to ensure a safe environment each disco is staffed by c. 25 adult helpers.  The hours are 19.15 – 23.15 once a month. The role requires helpers to be a visible presence in the hall, to ensure that the kids know that there is a friendly, approachable, adult presence at all times, and to keep an eye out for any children who look like they might need assistance. Other helpers co-ordinate the car park to ensure that the movement of cars and children occurs in a safe manner. Full guidance is provided to new helpers and vetting will be required.    This role would suit people who want to help provide a secure source of entertainment and social interaction for local children. St. Mary’s College RFC is an equal opportunities club.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: To raise the profile of the club in the community through information, social media, publicity and promotion. Ensure the advertising and distribution of press releases, articles, newsletters and reports.

Co-ordinate match reports for local press. Coordinate the promotion of events and fundraising. Work closely with club officers and webmaster to ensure all relevant information is communicated to the right people at the right time. Invite local press and media to club events. Create a local and national contact list.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: Killarney Rugby has grown significantly in recent years. Up to now all fundraising activities have been managed by the Executive Committee. However, the club therefore feels the best approach for the future would be to create a separate subcommittee tasked with coordinating all fundraising activities. In order to make a success of this, the club is looking for a Fundraising Coordinator to pull all the strands together and to chair this new subcommittee.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: Every club needs major events to top up the coffers, motivate people, or reward the volunteers who give their time week in and week out. The Events Coordinator would work together with other events coordinators to put together a calendar of events for the season. Each event would then have its own stand-alone team, which would plan and carry it out. Killarney Rugby is specifically looking to organise events such as fundraisers, social gatherings and charity events. Commitment can be to one event or to multiple events during the season as time allows.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: This role is about strengthening ties between the club and the local community. This involves growing the number of members by building the club’s presence in the community and making membership as attractive as possible. This is achieved by reaching out to associations around Aghadoe and in the greater Killarney area who may benefit from using our facility alongside rugby activities. In essence, to help the club become an increasingly integral part of the community.

TIME COMMITMENT: 2-4 Hours Per Week

ROLE DESCRIPTION: As an Event Coordinator you will play an integral role in the planning, organisation and running of various social events for the Club designed to appeal to the diverse dynamic of the membership.  The social environment of any club is an important factor in the maintenance and sustainability of the club and, at Belfast Harlequins, diversity and inclusivity are core values of the fabric of the Club.  The ability to motivate people in the running of events, engagement and coordination with the Volunteer Coordinator, the in-house caterer and the various sports committees is essential ultimately reporting into the General Committee.  Ideally, you should be willing to commit to at least a year as an Event Coordinator in order to provide consistency to the role and to be able to establish key relationships within the Club and external stakeholders.  Some of the role can be carried out remotely however it is important that you attend the Club regularly in order to help build relationships and to be visible and approachable to the membership.  It is anticipated that you will need around 2-3 hours weekly to complete the role although this will vary depending on the event calendar.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: As the Volunteer Coordinator you will play an integral role in the recruitment and development of volunteers, helping to ensure that we have the right people running every aspect of the Club, leading to long-term sustainability and rugby for generations to come.  You will be providing a focal point for volunteers and volunteering within the Club, building and maintaining good working relationships with other volunteers, facilitating the recruitment and retention of volunteers, looking for a variety of opportunities to reach potential volunteers and building and maintaining a good working relationship with the Ulster Rugby Volunteer and Policy Development Officer.  Ideally you should be willing to commit to at least a year as Volunteer Coordinator in order to provide consistency to the role and to be able to establish key relationships within the Club and Ulster Rugby.  Some of the role can be carried out at a location to suit you however it is important that you attend the Club regularly in order to help build relationships and to be visible and approachable to existing and potential volunteers.  It is anticipated that you will need around 2-3 hours weekly to complete the role although this will vary depending on seasonal variations.
