History Made As All Four Provinces Reach European Quarter-Finals

For the first time in the same season, all four Irish provinces have qualified for European quarter-finals. Munster and Connacht face last-eight trips to Edinburgh and Sale Sarks respectively, while the Heineken Champions Cup will have its first all-Irish quarter-final since 2012 when Leinster and Ulster clash at the Aviva Stadium.

The qualifiers for the Heineken Champions Cup quarter-finals and their rankings at the conclusion of the pool stages are as follows:

1. Saracens (Pool 3 winners – 28 points)
2. Racing 92 (Pool 4 winners – 26 points)
3. LEINSTER (Pool 1 winners – 25 points)
4. Edinburgh (Pool 5 winners – 23 points)
5. MUNSTER (Pool 2 winners – 21 points)
6. ULSTER (best pool runners-up – 22 points)

7. Toulouse (second best pool runners-up –  21 points)
8. Glasgow Warriors (third best pool runners-up – 19 points)

The quarter-final matches to be played on March 29/30/31 are as follows:

QF 1: Saracens v Glasgow Warriors, Allianz Park
QF 2: Edinburgh v MUNSTER, BT Murrayfield
QF 3: LEINSTER v ULSTER, Aviva Stadium
QF 4: Racing 92 v Toulouse, Paris La Défense Arena

– The exact dates, venues, kick-off times and TV coverage for the matches will be announced in the coming days

Following confirmation of the Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final line-up, the possible semi-final pairings will be as follows:

SF 1: Winners of QF 1: Saracens v Glasgow Warriors will play the winners of QF 2: Edinburgh v MUNSTER
SF 2: Winners of QF 3: LEINSTER v ULSTER will play the winners of QF 4: Racing 92 v Toulouse

The semi-final matches will be played at venues designated by EPCR, and the following teams will have home country advantage in their respective matches:

If Saracens (ranked number 1) and Edinburgh (ranked number 4) win their quarter-finals, Saracens will have home country advantage
If Saracens (ranked number 1) and MUNSTER (ranked number 5) win their quarter-finals, Saracens will have home country advantage
If Edinburgh (ranked number 4) and Glasgow Warriors (ranked number 8) win their quarter-finals, the semi-final will be played in Scotland
If MUNSTER (ranked number 5) and Glasgow Warriors (ranked number 8) win their quarter-finals, MUNSTER will have home country advantage

SEMI-FINAL 2

If Racing 92 (ranked number 2) and LEINSTER (ranked number 3) win their quarter-finals, Racing 92 will have home country advantage
If Racing 92 (ranked number 2) and ULSTER (ranked number 6) win their quarter-finals, Racing 92 will have home country advantage
If LEINSTER (ranked number 3) and Toulouse (ranked number 7) win their quarter-finals, LEINSTER will have home country advantage
