Ireland Women To Kick Off Six Nations Against England

The 2019 Women’s Six Nations fixtures list has been confirmed with Ireland hosting the Championship opener against England at Energia Park in Donnybrook on Friday, February 1 (kick-off 5pm). Adam Griggs’ charges will also play defending champions France at the same venue on Saturday, March 9 (kick-off 7pm).

With an exciting squad selected, the Ireland Women’s international season begins with the visit of the USA to Energia Park on Sunday, November 18. Buy your Ireland v USA ticket(s) now! The following Saturday sees the girls in green clash with England as part of a Men’s and Women’s Test double header at Twickenham.

The trip to England Rugby HQ will be ideal preparation for Ireland’s Six Nations first round encounter with the Red Roses, who won the Grand Slam on St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin two years ago. 2018 marked Adam Griggs’ first season in charge of Ireland and they finished third in the table.

Round two will see Ireland look to avenge last season’s defeat when they tackle Scotland at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow (kick-off 7.35pm) on Friday, February 8, before the six teams draw breath with a gap week. The tournament resumes on Saturday, February 23 with Parma’s Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi the destination for Ireland’s third round meeting with Italy (kick-off 7.30pm local time/6.30pm Irish time).

Two back-to-back weeks wrap up the Championship with captain Ciara Griffin and her team-mates aiming to lower the colours of France on Saturday, March 9 – Ireland were victorious over the French on home soil in 2009, 2013 and 2017 – before the following Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day, brings them to Cardiff Arms Park where Wales provide the opposition in a 1.30pm kick-off.

The 2019 Women’s Six Nations will once again see fans from across Europe support their team. In total, the tournament will visit 11 different host venues with Montpellier, Glasgow, Dublin, Lecce, Doncaster, Lille, Cardiff, Parma, Exeter, Padova and London all set to host fixtures. RTÉ will carry full coverage of the Ireland Women’s games, with Sky Sports also broadcasting the tournament opener from Donnybrook.
