Irish Referees On Duty In Europe And B&I Cup

With the second round of European action taking place this weekend, there are Irish referees on duty across the continent and also in the British & Irish Cup closer to home.

On Friday evening, David Wilkinson takes charge of the all-French tie between Brive and Oyonnax in European Challenge Cup – two teams who are Connacht’s pool.

Saturday sees George Clancy referee Leicester Tigers versus Castres Olympique in the European Champions Cup. He will be assisted by Sean Gallagher and Mark Patton at Welford Road.

Frank Murphy is in Challenge Cup action when Bordeaux-Begles welcome Newcastle Falcons to the south west of France. He is assisted by Kieran Barry and Eddie Hogan O’Connell.

In the second round of the British & Irish Cup, Jonny Erskine will referee the meeting of Bedford Blues and the Ospreys Premiership Select, and Nigel Correll is in Wales for the Dragons Premiership Select v Jersey fixture.

There is also a lone Ulster Bank League match at Irish Independent Park between Sunday’s Well and Belfast Harlequins, which Tim Townend will officiate.

On Sunday, John Lacey will have the whistle as Exeter Chiefs visit Montpellier in Leinster’s Champions Cup pool. Andrew Brace and Joy Neville will be the assistant referees.
