Guilfoyle Replaces Nix As Old Crescent Head Coach

Ulster Bank League Division 2B club Old Crescent have announced a new senior coaching structure for next season. Brendan Guilfoyle will take over from Joe Nix as head coach for the 2017/2018 campaign.

Experienced back rower Brendan Guilfoyle, who was the Ulster Bank League Division 2C Player of the Year in 2015/16, will continue with his playing career, while Old Crescent RFC have thanked to Joe Nix for his ‘hard work and commitment to the club over the last three years as head coach with the senior side’.

During Nix’s coaching reign, Crescent were runaway winners of the Division 2C title in 2016 and went close to making it back-to-back promotions this term. They lost 21-10 away to Armagh in the recent Division 2A promotion play-off final.

In a statement issued by Old Crescent, the club said they are delighted that Nix will continue to be involved with senior rugby at Rosbrien.

Eugene McGovern and Brian Tuohy will continue in their roles as Crescent’s director of rugby and backs coach respectively for the 2017/18 season, with Tommy Pratt remaining on as Chairman of Rugby.
