IRFU Director of Rugby Development Scott Walker said: “Rugby continues to grow in popularity here in Ireland, and Rugby Sevens is a perfect form of the game to complement that expansion. By creating the opportunity for players from schools and colleges to play against teams from all over the island in one single festival, a greater number of participants experience rugby in a tournament environment.

“This will be an exciting new step in what we hope to see as a long time association with the game for these players. From here there are many possibilities for them in the pursuit of a chance to play rugby well into their adult lives.”

Winning teams in each tournament and discipline will receive prize money, trophies and medals in this inaugural competition.

Expressions of interest should be made by email and sent to sevens@irfu.ie by the deadline of 4pm on Tuesday, March 21. Please note that places in each tournament are subject to availability on a first-come, first served basis only.
