Connacht Players Settle Into New Dressing Rooms

Connacht Players Settle Into New Dressing Rooms

As soon as the Connacht senior squad departed for holidays following their GUINNESS PRO12 title win in May, building work started at the Sportsground on new and improved dressing room facilities.

The new-look home dressing room has been extended to nearly double its original size and fitted with 23 individual lockers and direct access to a second dressing room.

The facilities were ready to move into yesterday – exactly one month out from Connacht’s GUINNESS PRO12 round 1 clash with Glasgow Warriors in Galway.

As part of the official moving-in ceremony, the westerners’ head coach Pat Lam and his management team invited the 23 highest capped players, starting with captain John Muldoon on 275 appearances, to choose their preferred ‘spot’ for the season.

On game day, the 23-man match-day squad will use the dressing room. Veteran back rower Muldoon was delighted to have first choice, admitting: “I’ve always been in the corner, for about 13 years now. It was myself and Swifty (Michael Swift) side-by-side for most of that.”

Tom McCartney (44 caps) and Eoghan Masterson (34 caps) are now seated beside the Connacht skipper during the training week.

Connacht take on Glasgow in round 1 of the PRO12 at the Sportsground on Saturday, September 3 (kick-off 5.15pm). There are still a number of Main Stand Season Tickets (adult, junior and concession) available to purchase for 2016/17. Click here for more information.
