Ulster To Host Open Training Session At Virginia RFC

The Ulster squad will hold an open training session at Virginia RFC on Thursday, August 11 as part of its long-term community engagement strategy.

The trip to County Cavan follows successful visits to Monaghan RFC, Donegal Town RFC, Strabane RFC, City of Derry RFC and Clogher Valley RFC in recent years.

Les Kiss’ men will arrive at approximately 1.30pm, but supporters are encouraged to attend from 12pm to enjoy the free Family Fun Day at the club. The training session will take place from around 2.15pm to 3.30pm.

Following the session there will be an opportunity for fans to meet the players and acquire autographs and photos.

Commenting on the open training session at Virginia RFC, Ulster’s director of rugby Les Kiss said: “It is important for us as a squad to get out to see the Ulster public as much as possible and this is another great opportunity to do that.

“I know from speaking to the players that they have thoroughly enjoyed making appearances at the Centra camps this summer and the Family Fun Day at Kingspan Stadium was a great success too.

“Our visit to Virginia will give supporters the chance to see how the senior squad trains and will give them the opportunity to meet our players, many of whom have played international rugby.

“I know Virginia has put some excellent structures in place and they have booming mini and youth rugby sections, which is great to see from our perspective.

“It is important for us to recognise the hard work that is going into making Virginia Rugby Club a success and hopefully we can support them in getting even more people involved in the club.”
