There is one addition to the squad that won the Bowl final against Japan in Atlanta last weekend, with Shannon Houston joining the squad as a precaution due to a couple of players picking up bumps and bruises.

The Irish team have been drawn in Pool C with England, hosts Canada and Japan for the tournament in Langford.

Speaking this week about both the Atlanta Sevens and the Canadian event, Anthony Eddy said: “Winning the Bowl in Atlanta was pleasing for us. We didn’t have a great start to the tournament on day one, but we made amends for that on day two and were happy with how things went.

“Looking ahead to Langford this weekend, it’s really about trying to build on our performances from Atlanta. The groups are always tough at the World Series, but we’re hoping to keep on improving tournament by tournament.”
