Busy Weekend Ahead For IRFU Referees

Busy Weekend Ahead For IRFU Referees

It is a busy weekend for IRFU officials as they will be in action in the GUINNESS PRO12, the Ulster Bank League and the Women’s All-Ireland Cup finals, as well as being involved in underage internationals.

On Friday night in the PRO12, it will be an all-Irish affair as Dudley Phillips takes charge of the interprovincial derby between Ulster and Connacht. He will be assisted by Gary Conway and Nigel Correll, with Brian MacNeice as TMO.

Also in the PRO12 on Friday, John Lacey will officiate the Newport Gwent Dragons v Ospreys tie at Rodney Parade.

There are three ‘Friday Night Lights’ clashes in the Ulster Bank League. In Division 1A, Sean Gallagher will be the man in the middle as Garryowen face Young Munster, and Leo Colgan takes charge of Old Belvedere and Clontarf in Dublin. In Division 1B, Frank Murphy will referee St. Mary’s College v Dublin University.

On Saturday, David Wilkinson and Mark Patton will be assistant referees at the Aviva Stadium where Leinster host old rivals Munster in the PRO12, with Simon McDowell as TMO.

There are three Women’s All-Ireland Cup finals on Saturday at Anglesea Road. Su Carty will take charge of the Cup final between Cooke and Galwegians, Katie Kilbane will referee the Plate final between St. Mary’s and Thurles and Glenda Mellon will officiate the Shield decider between Highfield and Railway Union.

The Ireland Under-18s are in action against England U-18s in the U-18 Tri Nations Festival in Ashbourne and Jonny Erskine will be one of the assistant referees at that game.

The All-Ireland Provincial League Round Robin series will also take place on Saturday. Clonmel will face Enniscorthy and will refereed by Stuart Douglas. Bangor take on Westport and will have Dermot Blake as the man in the middle.

There is also action across all divisions in the Ulster Bank League, while the Ireland Under-19s take on France U-19s at Garryowen FC on Sunday, with Tommy O’Donoghue one of the assistant referees.
