Ireland U-18 Girls Sevens Squad Announced For European Grand Prix Series

The Ireland Under-18 Girls Sevens squad has been named for the Rugby Europe U-18 Grand Prix Series tournament which is being held in Liege, Belgium this weekend over Saturday and Sunday.

The Stan McDowell-coached squad of 12 include seven members of the Combined Provinces selection that finished sixth at the Sainsbury’s UK School Games in Manchester last weekend – captain Chloe Blackmore, top try scorer Eimear Corri, Yvonne O’Shea, Katherine English, Brittany Hogan, Molly Scuffil McCabe and Robyn Gleeson.

Gemma Dunican, Megan O’Brien, Katie Heffernan, Tracy Collopy and Louise Scully complete the Belgium-bound squad.

Skipper and place-kicker Blackmore helped Ireland win the Plate title at the inaugural U-18 European Sevens in Enkoping, Sweden twelve months ago.

The Ireland girls have been drawn in Pool B alongside Wales, Italy and Spain for this weekend’s tournament in Liege. The fixtures and pools can be viewed here.
