of these clubs has received a support package worth €;5,000.

Ulster Bank RugbyForce, which is now in its fifth year, provides rugby clubs with the opportunity to win support packages to renovate their club and upgrade their facilities. Since the initiative began over €;190,000 has been awarded to 170 clubs.

Helen McQuade, Fundraising Co-ordinator, Virginia RFC, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to be named the national winner of Ulster Bank RugbyForce. With an expanding youth section as well as three girls teams and one senior team, this funding will go a long way to help us upgrade our facilities.

“We are the only rugby club within a 15 miles radius and our grounds play an important role in the community so we are very grateful to Ulster Bank for this support.”

Ulster Bank RugbyForce encourages rugby supporters, their friends and families to give something back to their local community and rugby club by volunteering to undertake renovations to clubhouses and grounds. All winning clubs will be carrying out their improvement during the Ulster Bank RugbyForce day this Saturday (September 12).

With the support of the Ulster Bank RugbyForce funding, Virginia RFC plan to carry out essential works to their kitchen facilities. Club members that include plumbers, carpenters and builders will be giving up their time for the kitchen refurbishment which will enable the club to provide food and refreshments for visiting clubs as well as hosting functions.

Speaking about Ulster Bank RugbyForce, Jim Ryan, Head of Branch Banking Private and Financial Planning, Ulster Bank, said: “As Official Community Rugby Partner of the IRFU, we understand the importance of the continued development of Irish Rugby. Each of these winning clubs plays a fundamental role in their community and these funds will make a substantial difference for both their members and the community alike for the coming years.
