Daly Ruled Out Of Ireland Sevens Squad
Ireland Sevens captain Tom Daly has been ruled out of the Rugby Europe Olympic Repechage tournament taking place in Lisbon this weekend due to a wrist injury.
Matthew O’Regan, who has come through the Exiles pathway, has been called up to the squad. Young Munster clubman Gearoid Lyons will captain the side in the absence of the injured Tom Daly.
Ireland must finish in the top three at the tournament to qualify for next year’s World Olympic Repechage, which will determine the final teams to travel to Rio 2016.
The Irish side will compete in Pool A on Saturday alongside Georgia, Italy and Russia, with the knockout stages taking place on Sunday.
