Speaking at the announcement Minister Ring said: “Sports clubs and organisations are the lifeblood of communities across Ireland.

“I’m delighted to be able to show how much the Government values their role and contribution. Thanks to their largely voluntary work, these clubs and organisations are delivering on the Government’s target to get more people to be more active, more often.”

Welcoming the grants IRFU President Pat Fitzgerald said: “Our clubs are a key part of the fabric of the game and as such we welcome this investment in their facilities. The clubs who applied for these grants are to be commended for their committment to development on and off the pitch.

“We also thank the Government for their investment in sport through these grants and also the allocation of funding through the Irish Sports Council. This will pay dividends for future generations of rugby players.”
