Marshall Helps Ballymena Bears Prepare For Wooden Spoon Festival

Ballymena Bears met again at Eaton Park last Sunday to continue their training in readiness for the Wooden Spoon International Special Needs Tag Rugby Festival on Saturday, June 7.

Ballymena Bears were boosted by a visit of their patron, Ulster and Ireland centre Luke Marshall, who joined in the fun and helped give a few pointers for their big day.

The Wooden Spoon International Tag Rugby Festival will take place on Saturday, June 7 at Ravenhill, the home of Ulster Rugby.

Over 340 players from 44 teams will be taking part, from Scotland, Wales and as far away as Hampshire in England.

Tag rugby is a non-contact sport and the Bears at Ballymena Rugby Club have been established for those with learning disabilities.

The Bears meet every other Sunday and it is not too late to join in the fun for either players or helpers!

If you are interested in either playing or helping, please contact Gary Donald on 0773 8389791 or visit the Ballymena Bears Facebook page for more details.
