Semi-Final Time In Women’s All-Ireland Cup

Semi-Final Time In Women’s All-Ireland Cup

The four cup favourites have made it through to the semi-final stage of the Women’s All Ireland Cup, though they didn’t have it all their own way in getting there.

It was a case of last minute scores for Galwegians and UL Bohemians to claim their spots. A late penalty for ‘Wegians saw them edge Blackrock 20-17, while the Red Robin girls scored a late try to break Railway Union hearts on an 8-5 scoreline.

Highfield beat St. Mary’s by 24-5, while Old Belvedere were in flying form with a six-try 41-0 victory over Portlaoise.

Cup holders Highfield now face previous winners UL Bohs and Belvedere are at home to Galwegians.

In the Shield competition, both Queen’s University and Sligo had big wins over their opponents at the weekend and will now face one another in the Shield semi-final.

This game is winners-take-all as it will act as a double header – an All-Ireland League Division 2 North league and Shield semi-final fixture.

Tralee and Fermoy have already met once this year in the group stages of the All-Ireland Cup. They now meet for the second time in the Shield semi-final.

Last time out Tralee came out with a 12-3 win. However, with Fermoy’s recent triumph over Carlow we expect this match to be a lot closer.
