Great Night With Ireland Coaches For Supporters Club

Great Night With Ireland Coaches For Supporters Club

The President’s Suite in the Aviva Stadium was packed last night as members of the Irish Rugby Supporters Club enjoyed a Q&A with the Ireland coaching team of Joe Schmidt, Les Kiss and John Plumtree.

It was a hugely enjoyable evening in the home of Irish rugby as Joe Schmidt, Les Kiss and John Plumtree shared their insights, a few jokes and even some nuggets of information about the Ireland squad.

All of the hot topics in rugby were up for discussion and Joe shared his views about playing in France, the atmosphere for Ireland v New Zealand, the quality of the Heineken Cup and even what props do in their spare time!

Assistant coach Les Kiss spoke about the challenge presented by Scotland for the opening game of the RBS 6 Nations and how important it is for Ireland to keep their best players fit and to develop depth in the squad.

Forwards coach John Plumtree is looking forward to his first Championship and spoke about how much the coaches and the players had learned from the GUINNESS Series in November.

There was also plenty of talk about the 44-man squad named yesterday and Joe even offered some clues as to who will line out for the O2 Ireland Wolfhounds against England Saxons next week.

The questions from the floor gave Joe pause for thought as well, particularly when one young fan asked him who his best player is.

One lucky member, chosen at random from all the attendees, was presented with a signed Ireland jersey and a signed copy of ‘Rala: A Life in Rugby’.

The Irish Rugby Supporters Club would like to thank Joe, Les and John for their time and of course all the members who came along and made the event extra special.
