Every month we will bring you club news from the IRFU Committee meetings. This month we look at club funding, the Ulster Bank League review, RBS 6 Nations tickets and the Club International.
Funding – Sports Capital Programme
The availability of funding was discussed. Clubs are advised to register for funding under the Sports Capital Programme. Clubs that wish to make an application for funding must first register at www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie
Ulster Bank League Review
The IRFU met with all 52 Ulster Bank All Ireland League senior clubs and has followed up these meetings with a survey for members. The information gathered will be collated to produce a document of key principles and feedback
The Review Group will then develop options and recommendations which will form a consultation document to be circulated through the Branch network in January 2014, with the aim of developing final recommendations by April 2014.
RBS 6 Nations Tickets
A recent Irish Rugby Supporters Club online pre-sale of 6 Nations tickets was met with huge demand as a small allocation was made available via the Supporters Club website.
As Ireland first 6 Nations clash is just 8 weeks away, the IRFU has issued the international match tickets to the four provincial Branches.
Club Ticket Officers will shortly be contacting club members about tickets for Ireland’s home fixtures against Scotland, Wales and Italy.
It is important to note that 2014 is the first year of a two year international match cycle and ticket purchase levels for 2014 will determine allocations for the 2015 Championship. Click here for ticket prices and categories
Club International Manager Appointed
The committee were delighted to confirm the appointment of Garryowen’s Seamus McDermott as manager of the Club International squad. We congratulate Seamus and wish him all the luck in rugby!
Club international fixtures will take place against Scotland Clubs and England Counties in February.
