Tullamore Paint Posts Pink For Relaunch Of Women’s Team

Tullamore RFC have announced the relaunch of Women’s rugby in the club and marking this new era in a novel way, they have painted all their goal posts pink.

Women’s rugby is booming throughout Ireland at present and the sport’s profile has never been higher after Ireland’s historic Grand Slam win earlier this year. Offaly’s own Niamh Kavanagh played a part in that memorable success.

Tullamore RFC have put together an impressive management team to take charge of the club’s new Women’s set-up.

The seconds captain Mike Tormey has been installed as head coach, Colin Hughes looks after the backs with Keith Cleary in charge of the forwards, Susan Bagnall, club President Elect, is the team manager, while Ailsa Hughes has been named captain.

Tullamore have entered into the Leinster Development League for the 2013/14 season and are guaranteed at least 10 competitive matches.

The County Offaly club also hope to field a girls Under-18 side for the season ahead.

From beginner to seasoned stalwart, all are welcome to give it a try and anyone interested in taking up this popular and very sociable sport can contact Susan Bagnall on 0879828043 or Mike Tormey on 0874142158.

Or else simply show up at the official launch night tomorrow – Friday, August 23 – where there will be food, drinks and lots of craic after training.
