Tonight’s clash of Canada and Ireland will be the sixth meeting between the two sides, with the Irish coming out on top on four occasions. There was one draw (27-27) in Markham in 2000.

The first time they met was during the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987 in Dunedin, New Zealand. The match that day ended 46-19 to Ireland.

The last meeting between the sides was in May 2009 in Vancouver when Ireland won 25-6 against Canada. They have met twice before on Canadian soil.

Centre James Downey will earn his first senior cap for Ireland, while winger Andrew Trimble is set for his 50th international appearance. He made his debut for Ireland in a 30-14 loss to Australia in November 2005. His last cap came against South Africa last November.

Canada’s full-back James Pritchard needs seven points to become his country’s highest individual points scorer, and overtake Canada’s record holder Gareth Rees (491 points). Pritchard also needs 15 more points to be the first Canadian to reach 500 career points.

Tonight’s game will be the third time Canada have played at the BMO Stadium in Toronto. In their two previous outings there, they earned a 28-22 victory over close rivals USA (in 2011) and suffered a 25-16 defeat to Italy last June.

We will have live text commentary direct from Toronto so plug in your laptop or turn on the PC and enjoy a flavour of the game live on IrishRugby.ie.

There will be full live text and score updates throughout the coverage, with our pre-match build-up getting underway at 12.30am Irish time.

The game is being broadcast live in Ireland on TG4 with the Sports Network covering it in Canada. There will be a live stream on www.tg4.tv.
