Ireland Under-20 Squad Named For Junior World Championship

The Ireland Under-20 squad, sponsored by PwC, for June’s IRB Junior World Championship in France was named today at the PwC offices by head coach Mike Ruddock.

Five players who were not involved in the Under-20 Six Nations earlier this year have been added to the squad – Edward Byrne, Adam Byrne, Thomas Farrell, Daniel Leavy and Jack O’Donoghue.

Luke McGrath will captain the side and in the absence of Robbie Henshaw and Stuart Olding, who are both on duty with the Ireland senior squad this summer, the Leinster scrum half will bring experience to the role.

Speaking at the announcement, Ronan Murphy, Senior Partner with PwC, said: “We are committed to supporting the development of Irish rugby through our sponsorship of the Under-20 team and wish them every success at the upcoming IRB Junior World Championship in France.”

Ireland share Pool B with Australia, Fiji and New Zealand and open their tournament against Australia on Wednesday, June 5 at Stade de la Rabine in Vannes.

Ireland’s pool games will be broadcast live on TG4 along with the tournament’s semi-finals and final.
