Ireland will continue their preparation for the Women’s Rugby World Cup Sevens when they take part in the London Sevens event in May. The girls in green have been drawn against the USA, Canada and Russia for their opening pool games.

Hosts England, World champions Australia, France, Spain, USA, Canada, Russia and Ireland will all compete for glory at Twickenham with the tournament sharing the stage alongside the final round of the Men’s HSBC World Sevens Series.

Ireland have already added to their experience and the silverware collection in Hong Kong and China and will be hoping to improve on their final standings from those tournaments when they head to London.

The pool matches and quarter-finals will take place on Twickenham’s Cardinal Vaughan pitches and the semi-finals and finals will be played at Twickenham Stadium.

Ireland Women’s Sevens captain Claire Molloy spoke recently about the progress this exciting young squad are making.

“It is just a massive learning curve for us from game one, so we can take that forward. We’ve still got loads and loads to build on really coming up to Moscow,” she said.
