Open Training Session A Hit With Ireland Fans

Open Training Session A Hit With Ireland Fans

Over 2,000 Irish rugby supporters braved the cold at Donnybrook on Tuesday evening to watch the Ireland squad train and to gather some much-sought after autographs and photos.

The day started with the bad news that Brian O’Driscoll and Rory Best had been ruled out of the GUINNESS Series through injury, but the fans who turned out in large numbers did not let that dampen their spirits as they watched the players put through their paces.

Ireland team manager Michael Kearney explained the layout of the training session and what life is like in camp to MC Des Cahill. Des also spoke to Ireland prop Cian Healy who was sitting out the session and to bag man-in-chief Paddy ‘Rala’ O’Reilly.

It was a cold night but there was plenty of action on the field to keep the players and fans warm. However, it was the post-training signing session that proved the most popular as the players signed autographs and posed for photos with the fans.

There was even time after kicking practice for Jonathan Sexton and Ronan O’Gara to run over and make supporters – young and old alike – very happy!

The players are now looking forward to seeing all those fans and more at the Aviva Stadium and Thomond Park for the games against South Africa, Fiji and Argentina over the coming weeks.

Tickets are selling fast for all three games so do not miss your chance to watch your Irish rugby team in action – buy online now on ticketmaster.ie.
