Cork Con To Celebrate Jazz Weekend In New Clubhouse
Cork Constitution recently opened its new clubhouse at Temple Hill and this Saturday they will welcome Young Munster for the first time to the new facility for week three of the Ulster Bank League.
It is October Bank Holiday weekend which means only one thing in Cork – Jazz Weekend. As with last two years at Temple Hill, it promises to be a great day in the club according to Tony O’Connor of Cork Con’s Communications Committee.
The club opened the new clubhouse at the start of the season and are delighted at the way members have embraced the new environment. This weekend is another opportunity for the club to showcase their new surroundings at Temple Hill.
For the last two years, Cork Constitution have put a big effort into their Ulster Bank League matches over the Jazz Weeekend. They have been great days in the club and this year they are hoping for another fun day with the added attraction of the new clubhouse.
Every day is a special day when Cork Con play Young Munster, who travel in numbers, know their rugby, are passionate about their team and are respected for their loyal support.
Over the years there have been great games between both clubs and a healthy rivalry exists. The hosts are sure this Saturday will see another exciting encounter at Temple Hill.
The game itself promises to be another great game between both clubs with Young Munster starting the season with two wins and Constitution with one win and one loss to UL Bohemians in the last round.
Off the pitch, Cork Con are planning an action-packed weekend and will commence with a Food and Wine Fare in the clubhouse on the Friday night.
The club ran this night last year and it was a huge success and again this Friday they have eight local food and wine establishments bringing the best they can offer for tasting and thereafter enjoying their spoils. It promises to be a good kick-off to the weekend and all are welcome.
Matchday itself will start with Constitution’s underage at 9.30am to 12 noon and the club have organised a few more activities than normal Saturday mornings for the boys and encourage all parents to come alone and enjoy the club facilities as it is the long weekend.
The club hosted the first lunch in the new clubhouse for the recent Clontarf match and it was a great start to the Ulster Bank League season. They are expecting another great crowd this Saturday.
The underage coaches are the guests of this year’s club President Finian O’Driscoll at the lunch, an annual invitation to the club’s underage coaches for the remarkable effort and commitment they put in week after week. It is a way of the club recognising what they do at this lunch.
Their guest speaker will be Bertie Smith, a former Cork Con great and international referee.
Any time Bertie speaks you can be sure it will be entertaining and amusing and with his experiences as a player and a man with the whistle , we are sure there will be some interesting stories when he speaks this Saturday.
As is now the case on Jazz Weekend, the club will be getting into the Jazz spirit before and after the game. If jazz is not your fancy, there are underage blitzes with Highfield running up to kick-off, activities for all family members and the matchday barbeque is being rolled out before and after the game.
Temple Hill is the place to be this Saturday. All in all, it promises to be another great Jazz Weekend Ulster Bank League Saturday.
