IRFU SAFE-Rugby Level 2 Course Launched

Following on from the highly successful IRFU Sports Medicine Conference and Satellite Events in May, IRFU Sports Medicine Events are bringing you another event. ‘Standard Approach To Field Emergencies In Rugby’ or SAFE-Rugby is the IRFU rugby-specific pitchside emergency care course and is aimed at club medical personnel.

The one-day SAFE-Rugby Level 2 Course will take place in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30.

The course is running on both days to accommodate those who may be involved in club games that weekend.

Club medical personnel are encouraged to attend to update their knowledge and skills in this area for the upcoming season and those working as part of a medical team are advised to attend together to practice skills.

Course content includes certification for the Irish Heart Foundation/American Heart Association Heartsaver AED Course and specific topics including concussion, spinal management, packaging/moving the injured player, fractures and matchday preparation.

There is an emphasis on practical tasks with skills stations and rapid practice scenarios making up most of the course.
