The Ireland Women’s Sevens squad took a significant step on the road to qualification for the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens when they won the first European Sevens qualifying tournament in Ghent last weekend. Irish Rugby TV caught up with head coach Jon Skurr on the eve of the final.
Undefeated all weekend and not a single point conceded are stats that show just how good this Ireland squad has become since the Women’s Sevens programme started just 10 weeks ago.
There are bigger tests yet to come with a final qualifying tournament in Moscow on the horizon, but for now head coach Jon Skurr is very pleased with the progress his players have made.
In the inreview, Jon also talks about the challenges that lie ahead against some of the top teams in Europe and how this squad can benchmark themselves and their expectations for the final qualifying tournament.
