Amsterdam To Screen Women’s Sevens On YouTube
The Ireland Women’s Sevens squad are preparing to take the next step this weekend at the Amsterdam International 7s and you can watch highlights of the action on YouTube.
Playing under the invitational name of ‘Irish Lightning’, the Ireland Women’s Sevens squad went unbeaten at the recent Kinsale Sevens tournament but Amsterdam represents another step on the ladder towards qualification for the IRB Rugby World Cup Sevens in 2013.
They will come up against some of the elite players in Women’s Sevens as they are drawn alongside Canada, Spain and France on the opening day in Amsterdam.
The tournament organisers have announced that they will screen a number of games from the tournament on their dedicated YouTube channel.
Speaking ahead of the weekend’s action, Ireland coach Jon Skurr said: “Amsterdam is a chance for the girls to really measure themselves against some top players. It is an important tournament for us ahead of the qualifiers in Ghent in June.”
Two club teams from the All-Ireland Club Sevens will also be in action at the tournament with Blackrock College, Women’s Club Sevens champions, and Malone, runners up in the Men’s, travelling to Holland as part of their prize.
